Expired tags on getaway vehicle lead to suspected robbers' arrests

Three men have been arrested in the robbery of an AT&T store in Richmond on Saturday.

Police said the trio entered an AT&T store in the 20400 block of the Southwest Freeway after 8 p.m. and forced a customer and employee to the ground, while the men stole items from the back room, according to officers.

After allegedly robbing the phone store, the three men took off in a car on Highway 59. They were later stopped by police for the unrelated crime of having expired tags, according to officers.

As the traffic stop was taking place, the officer was informed about the robbery that happened earlier, and all three men were taken into custody.

Deontay Tasean Sowells, 20, Deandre Daleon Nervis, 21, and Darrell Glen Nervis-Peters, 23, were arrested for aggravated robbery, a first degree felony.

They are now sitting in Fort Bend County Jail waiting for bond to be set, according to authorities.
