2 killed, 2 injured in car crash in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – Two people were killed and two others injured Sunday after a car crash in northeast Harris County.

The collision killed two people and sent two others to the hospital.

Deputies said the driver of a truck, Nicholas Bowens, ran a stop sign around 7:15 p.m. in the 3800 block of Barbers Hill Rd. and hit a Mazda carrying Joaquin and Dominga perez.

The Mazda crashed into a road sign and a tree before landing in a ditch, investigators said.

The truck rolled over and also ended up in the ditch.

Deputies said both passengers in the Mazda died at the scene.

Bowens was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.

A passenger inside his truck was in stable condition, deputies said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
