Teen shot, killed during road-rage incident; police look for shooter

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating the gunman responsible for shooting and killing an 18-year-old man Saturday during an apparent road-rage incident.

Police said the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 12300 block of the Gulf Freeway Service Road near Fuqua. Surveillance video captured images of two cars driving in front of the victim’s vehicle during the incident, police said. In the video someone can be seen pointing a gun out of the window of a vehicle and opening fire at an SUV. The gunman shot the tire, window and 18-year-old Geovanni Rios, who was in the back seat.

The driver pulled into a shopping center parking lot, where a Houston Police Department cruiser was driving through. The officer called the Houston Fire Department.

Rios was taken to Memorial Hermann in critical condition, where he died.

The gunman got away, police said.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the shooter’s arrest.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
