SHEPHERD, Texas – Several people have been arrested in an undercover illegal game room operation in Shepherd.
On July 12, the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Office lead a raid on an illegal game room operation in the 5500 block of Highway 59 in Shepherd.
Deputies found numerous people in the building, including the game room owner Jimmy Nguyen.
All of those inside were arrested on numerous charges from gambling to engaging in organized criminal activity.
The Sheriff’s Office seized all property in the building, including the gambling machines. Approximately $10,000 was located throughout the building.
The eight alleged gamblers went before Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace, Judge Harris Blanchette, where they pleaded guilty.
The investigation is still open and investigators expect to charge several others involved in the criminal enterprise.
As the investigation continues, it is expected to gain additional charges on several other persons who were involved in this criminal enterprise.
