Houston bikers 'Back the Blue'

HOUSTON – More than 200 motorcyclists took a ride around the 610 loop Saturday morning to show their support for police officers.

The motorcyclists started their journey at the San Jacinto Monument and ended at the Harley Davidson store on Telephone Road.

“We have so much chaos in our towns right now that we really need to support the police as a community and stop all the nonsense going on,” said Christine Jorgensen, of Texas Lone Star Bikers.

Together the bikers were able to raise more than $1,800, which will go the Houston and Dallas police departments.
“We have to support them, they're our only salvation out there,” Sabrina Benton said.

“It’s to let them know that we are here to help in any way we can and that we love them and appreciate them for keeping our towns safe,” Jorgensen said.

Over the next few weeks, the bikers have similar rides planned across Texas, including ones in Midland, Beaumont, Amarillo and Dallas.
