HOUSTON – Fire crews were on standby at Bush Airport after reports of an aircraft with an apparent engine issue.
United flight 1594 was departing the Houston airport heading to Denver. Officials said upon takeoff, someone noticed "something odd" coming from the engine. When the pilot applied the brakes the tires on the left side of the aircraft blew out, officials said.
The 164 passengers and six crew members on board the flight were removed and placed on a new airplane to their destination.
Airport officials said there were no delays on other flights.
Maintenance crews are inspecting the aircraft.
