Man claims self-defense in deadly shooting at apartment complex in north Houston

HOUSTON – A police investigation is underway after a deadly confrontation Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex in north Houston.

According to police, a man was shot to death and a person was detained around 4:30 p.m. at 15156 Vickery Drive near the North Sam Houston Parkway.

The shooter told police he was assaulted by a man who claimed he had a weapon. The shooter said he was in fear of his life and shot the man.

The man was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. He has not been identified.

The 22-year-old shooter was not injured.

The case has been referred to a Harris County grand jury.
