Woman killed by hit-and-run driver in NE Houston
Houston police are investigating after a woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident at 4900 East Crosstimbers St. Sunday afternoon.
Police said the woman was driving a white Nissan Altima westbound on East Crosstimbers about 1:05 p.m. when she stopped at a red light at the intersection with Lockwood Drive. A black GMC 1500 was stopped alongside the Altima.
When the light turned green, the Altima and the GMC were heading through the intersection when a black Honda Accord allegedly ran the red light on Lockwood and struck the Altima. The Altima then hit the GMC and both vehicles spun.
The driver of the Accord, described by police only as a black man, left the scene on foot and is wanted by police at this time.
Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Altima dead at the scene.
Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to contact the HPD hit-and-run unit at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
