Argument leads to man shot in head in south Houston, police say

HOUSTON – An altercation between a man and a woman ended in a deadly shooting in south Houston Sunday night, police said.

According to investigators, neighbors broke up the argument between the couple before the shooting.  Around 11 p.m. the man in his 30s was found shot in the head outside the home in the 5700 block of Lycomb.

The woman was not hurt and police said she is cooperating.

"She came outside just crying and she asked for help from the neighbors. The neighbors were able to calm them both down and they both went inside," Stephen Jimenez with the Houston Police Department Homicide Division said.

Officers investigated the scene for hours and towed away a car. The connection between the car and the crime is unknown.

Police were not able to find a weapon at the scene.

No arrests have been made but do not believe there is an immediate threat to the public.

"I wouldn't say that there should be a heightened sense of anymore fear or danger here. It does seem to be some sort of domestic but that's what it seems like. I have no reason to believe there is someone roaming around shooting people at this time," Jimenez said.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
