Police looking for shooting victim's boyfriend in SW Houston

HOUSTON – Bryan Euymr Vega-Velez, 38, is wanted by police in connection to the fatal shooting of Alma D. Rivera-Melendez, 28. He is charged with murder.

Rivera-Melendez was killed on June 11 around 12:40 a.m. at her apartment, at 9803 W. Sam Houston Parkway S.

Houston police said Rivera-Melendez and Vega-Velez were in a relationship and were in an argument while both were at work.

When Rivera-Melendez got home, she continued to exchange text messages with Vega-Velez until he arrived home from work, police said.

According to police, a witness reported hearing the couple argue on the patio and then a single gunshot.

Vega-Velez then left the apartment, police said.
