METRO police officer injured in crash on 288
HOUSTON – A METRO police officer was injured in a hit-and-run crash in south Houston.
The motorcycle officer, identified as Alex Barnes, was hit in the 200 block of 288 Westbound near West Airport Road just before noon Monday.
According to police, the person driving didn't slow down and hit Barnes on the motorcycle.
Initial reports said the driver left the scene and later returned.
Barnes suffered non life-threatening injuries and is alert at the hospital.
Highway 288 southbound lanes have reopened after being blocked off as investigators gathered information.
