Boil water notice issued for Brazoria County residents living in flooded areas

BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – According to the Brazoria County Water Lab, residents living in flooded areas and on private water wells should not bathe in, cook with or consume the local well water.

Officials said residents should have their well water tested at the Lab. Instructions on how to disinfect and properly collect water samples along with a collection container can be picked up at the Water Lab at 409 East Orange in Angleton.

If residents boil water for drinking purposes, the lab strongly recommends allowing it to boil for at least one minute. Water may also be disinfected with chlorine or with ordinary household bleach, using one-eighth teaspoon per gallon of water.

Sterilize water containers and drinking vessels with a solution of household bleach, officials said.
