A man was hit and killed by a car Thursday morning on I-610 North Loop east.
The crash happened near north McCarty just before 4 a.m. Police said the man was walking on the freeway when the crash happened.
The driver stopped to help and called police. He told investigators “it happened so fast” and he couldn’t avoid the man.
It is unclear why the man was walking in the road.
Several lanes of the highway were closed as police investigated.
