HOUSTON – Former Houston Texans head coach, who is now the head coach for the Denver Broncos, Gary Kubiak sent his former high school a nice surprise Thursday.
Kubiak surprised St. Pius X High School with a replica Super Bowl 50 trophy that he received when the Broncos won the championship against the Carolina Panthers in February.

The high school alumni page shared the photo of the trophy on its Facebook page with the caption"
"Can you believe what arrived today? A Super Bowl trophy! What a better way to brighten up a gloomy, rainy day in Houston! A huge thanks to Gary Kubiak '79 for sending his alma mater. A very special piece of history."
Kubiak was the head coach for the Texans form 2006 to 2013. He accepted the position of Broncos head coach in 2015. Kubiak was also a former quarterback for the Broncos from 1983 to 1991 as a backup for John Elway.
Kubiak held a state record in passing yards while he was a quarterback at St. Pius X High School.
This was Kubiak's first Super Bowl trophy as a head coach.
President Barack Obama will welcome Kubiak and the rest of the Broncos team June 6 for their Super Bowl victory.

"This visit will continue the tradition begun by President Obama of honoring sports teams for their efforts to give back to their communities," according to a White House press release.
Current Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler was part of the Broncos Super Bowl winning team and was invited by the team to join them at the White House.
Osweiler declined, but thanked the Broncos saying in a statement:
"Due to a scheduled OTA in Houston, I feel it is important to be at practice with my new teammates. I am very appreciative of the Broncos wanting to include me on this special day."
