16-year-old Brenham boy killed by falling tree branch during cleanup
BRENHAM, Texas – A 16-year-old boy was killed by a falling tree branch during cleanup in Brenham on Monday morning, according to police.
The boy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and had decided to get together with some other young men to help the cleanup. This was not an organized cleanup effort with the church.
The boy was walking under a storm-damaged tree on the 2300 block of Progress Drive when the dangling limb fell. The limb had broken off and was being propped up between a house, a fence and a guide wire for a utility pole before it fell.
The boy was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
