Mandatory evacuations in Rosenberg due to flooding
ROSENBERG, Texas – A mandatory evacuation was issued Saturday for Rosenberg residents after Mayor Cynthia McConathy signed orders declaring a State of Disaster for the city.
The evacuation is in effect as of 2 p.m. Sunday.
The recent rains have caused the Brazos to reach record elevations and it is predicted to crest at over 53 feet Tuesday morning, city officials said.
The evacuations are in effect for the following areas:
- River Road area: All properties north of River Road, adjacent to the river
- Baker Road area: All properties south of Baker Road, adjacent to the river
- North Rosenberg: All properties on the north side of the railroad tracks from 5th Street to 8th Street (west to east) AND from the Brazos River to Avenue B (north to south)
Residents under mandatory evacuation are advised to seek shelter at the First Baptist Church located at 502 S. Fifth Street in Richmond.
Transportation to the shelter will be available from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at A.W. Jackson Elementary School.
Roads on the north side of Rosenberg will be closed as water levels increase, as well as the WoW Cemetery, Tony Becerra, Brazos, and River Bend Parks.
