HOUSTON – Commissioner Gene Locke outlines details of road repairs near NRG Park ahead of Super Bowl LI
The start of a project to repair roads near NRG Stadium will be announced at 10:30 a.m. Monday by Precinct 1 Commissioner Gene L. Locke.
The repairs come ahead of Super Bowl LI, which will be hosted in Houston next February.
The road construction is set to begin Monday on El Rio Street.
Locke committed to spending $30 million in the next two years to repair streets within the city of Houston. The program is part of an inter-local agreement reached with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.
Portions of four streets near NRG Park—Ardmore, El Rio, Holly Hall and Knight -- as well as well as a beautification project along McNee Street leading to NRG Park are expected to be repaired in time for the Super Bowl next February.
