NBC News – A University of Rochester student is facing charges after stealing and crashing an ambulance.
Officers say emergency crews were called to Library Road on campus for a drunk man around 2:30 Thursday morning. While they were on scene treating that man, 22-year-old Robert Cordaro, jumped into the driver's seat of the ambulance and sped away.
Cordaro did not get far in the ambulance, crashing into a flower bed moments later. He's been charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief and DWI.
A public safety officer said in a deposition that Cordaro said: "It was stupid, it was stupid," while being handcuffed and "You got me, do whatever you need to."
