Woman charged with murder in south Houston parking garage shooting
Surveillance showed woman walking away from vehicle with gun
HOUSTON – Police have arrested and charged a woman in connection with the deadly shooting found in Houston parking garage in January.
Jolonda Elane Smith, 20, was charged with murder and is being held in the Harris County jail on a $100,000 bond.
Police continue to try to determine the motive behind the shooting that happened inside the south Houston garage in the 9200 block of Gulf freeway.
According to police, the victim, an African American man in his late 20s or early 30s, was shot several times on January 27 around 5:30 p.m. inside his car after authorities said he drove Smith to the second level of the garage.
Investigators said no one heard the shots, but a witness told a security guard that a woman was seen running down one of the garage ramps with a gun in her hand. Authorities said Smith headed northbound on Airport Boulevard.
Investigators said Smith disappeared before officers arrived.
Investigator Michael Arrington said surveillance cameras in the garage did not capture exactly what led to the murder, but Smith could walking away from the man's car with a gun in her hand.
