Thief on the run after supermarket burlgary in northeast Houston


HOUSTON – Police arrested one man and are looking for another after a break-in at a Payless Food store in northeast Houston. 

Investigators say the thieves broke in the store on N. Wayside and Ley through the roof at around 2:30 a.m.

They set off an alarm while breaking into the safe, alerting police to the burglary. Officers quickly arrived and arrested one man. The other ran off. 

Police searched the area with dogs and a helicopter, but called off the search at around 4 a.m.

It's unclear whether the man got away with anything. Police have not released a description of the thief.
