Father gunned down in driveway of southwest Houston home

Man's wife found him after hearing gunshots

HOUSTON – A man was found shot and killed Wednesday in the driveway of his southwest Houston home.

Police said the man’s wife heard gunshots outside their home in the 3400 block of Unity. She went outside and found her husband, Tomas Gonzalez, 35, lying in the driveway, according to police.

Neighbors reported hearing three gunshots just before midnight but did not see the shooter, police said.

According to police, Gonzalez was returning home with dinner from a nearby restaurant when he was shot. His father-in-law claims Gonzalez was being followed earlier in the day and believes the two may be connected.

Gonzalez, a business owner, leaves behind his wife and two children ages 4 and 10.

Police are investigating the motive for the shooting and hope anyone with information will come forward with clues that will lead to the gunman.
