WOW! NASA captures stunning solar flare

Here's something you don't see every day; a solar eclipse up close and personal!  Video was captured by NASA's solar dynamics observatory on April 17 showing an active region on the sun's right side releasing a mid-level solar flare.

NASA color-coded the images for easy viewing.

Scientist study the active regions of the sun, which have intense magnetism, to better understand why they sometimes erupt with such flares.
