Student brings loaded gun to middle school in southeast Houston, officials say

HOUSTON – A student was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon Tuesday at Ezekiel W. Cullen Middle School, according to school officials.

Administrators said a student was discovered with a loaded gun, which was immediately confiscated. No students were harmed.

“We all must remain vigilant,” Principal Clayton D. Crook said in a release to parents. “I encourage you to take this opportunity to talk to your children and remind them about the dangers of guns and the importance of reporting unsafe behavior and objects. It’s also important to monitor your child’s behavior and actions, as well as your own, as children often mimic what they see in their own environment.”

The school said the student will also face disciplinary action.
