HOUSTON – An overnight police chase in the Heights ended in a deadly crash.
Police said a Precinct One Constable tried to pull a man driving a Ford Focus over Monday for speeding on at the Harris County Toll Road and Crosstimbers at around 12:30 a.m. but the driver refused to stop.

After a short chase, officers lost him and called off the chase. A few minutes later, a bystander flagged down police about a crash in the 500 block of West 20th and Lawrence.
Police found the car they were chasing had slammed into a tree. The driver was thrown from the car and died at the scene, police said.
The identity of the male driver has not been released. It is unclear why the driver ran from police.
