3-year-old injured in hit-and-run in north Houston

HOUSTON – A 3-year-old was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver in north Houston, according to authorities.

Police said Leonardo Alba was taken to Texas Children's Hospital with injuries. He has broken bones and bruises to his head but will be OK. He is in fair condition.

According to police, the little boy was playing with some of his siblings in a ditch alongside Charnwood Street. All of a sudden, the little boy ran out into the middle of the street, into the path of an oncoming car. The car hit him and did not stop to render aid. The boy’s father says he and other family members were outside when the incident happened. He says he can’t understand why the driver didn’t stop.

“It looked like he was either dragged or rode on the hood of the car, quite, for about 150 feet down the street,” said Sgt. G.T. Hall of the Houston Police Department.

A neighbor’s surveillance camera captured a red four-door vehicle with tinted windows driving down the street. Police believe that is the suspect's vehicle. If you have any information, call the Houston Police Department.
