Three women arrested for alleged role in beating on riverbank

CNN – Three women have been charged with assault for their role in a beating that took place two weeks ago on a South Carolina riverbank, according to Columbia police.

Police say the woman was lounging on the river with a co-worker when a mob of girls attacked her.

A report says one girl pulled the woman by her hair before throwing her to the rocky ground.

It also says members of the mob slapped her, pinned her down, and repeatedly beat her, while unknown men video taped the assault.

"The other one was just whaling on her face, whaling on her head, you know, on the back of her head. It definitely could have killed her," Ramy Williams, a friend of the victim said.

Arlinda Craft, 18, Anns Leigh Hill, 19, and Megan Williams, 20, are all charged with second-degree assault and battery by a mob.

"Seeing the aftermath was just insane:  the way that she had blood all over her face, two black eyes, you can tell that she's completely messed up in the face," Ramy Williams said.

The 20-year-old victim suffered a concussion and a broken nose in the attack.
