Police searching for driver in fatal hit-and-run in southeast Houston


HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for the driver responsible for hitting and killing a man in southeast Houston.

Investigators said a 22-year-old man was walking eastward Feb. 27 around 8:30 p.m. in the 5900 block of Van Fleet Street when he was struck and killed by a vehicle.

Officers said witnesses saw a blue pickup truck driven by an older African-American man heading westbound on the same street shortly before the victim was hit. The driver fled the scene in an unknown direction without giving aid to the victim.

The 22-year-old was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest, where he was later pronounced dead.
