(NBC) – An Indiana man arrested in connection with a missing toddler has been charged with raping and murdering her, according to documents filed Monday.

Kyle Joseph Parker, 22, is accused of child molesting, kidnapping, aggravated battery, strangulation and obstruction of justice, according to documents. Parker had been at the home of 15-month-old Shaylyn Ammerman the night she disappeared. She was found dead on Thursday.

The medical examiner determined Shaylyn's cause of death homicide by asphyxiation. She described the crime as "the worst case of sexual trauma she had seen in her career," according to an affidavit.
