20-year-old man charged with intoxication manslaughter after fatal accident

HOUSTON – A man has been charged with intoxication manslaughter after a deadly accident Sunday night.

Jose De Jesus Osorio Albarran, 20, was driving a Nissan pickup east in the 1000 block of West Mount Houston Road when he veered into oncoming traffic, authorities said. He struck a Chevrolet Impala with four occupants head-on around 9 p.m., according to investigators.

The driver of the Impala, Bertha Emiliano, 62, died at the scene. The front passenger in the Impala, Ramon Emiliano, was in critical condition.

The two back-seat passengers in the Impala, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital. The man was unconscious and the woman was injured, but both were expected to survive.

Albarran showed signs of impairment at the scene and was arrested for intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, authorities said. Blood results confirmed his intoxication, and Albarran was charged, according to investigators. He is being held in Harris County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
