Chase suspect captured after attempting to hide in Burger King, kicked out by customers

HOUSTON – Customers at a northeast Houston Burger King were not going to allow a man fleeing police to take cover inside the restaurant, and kicked the man out to find somewhere else to hide.

According to Houston police, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle, but the driver refused to stop.  The suspect led police on a chase, driving at times up to 100 mph, when he hit a curve on Clinton and Market, flipped the vehicle, then hopped out and fled to a nearby Burger King.

The suspect was trying to hide inside the restaurant, but the customers kicked him out, police said.

The suspect then ran out and attempted to run across the East Loop Freeway, where he was captured and taken into custody.

It was not known why officers originally attempted to pull over the suspect.
