No one found after SWAT raids house in the Heights

The Houston police SWAT team was called to a vacant home in the Heights area, after officials said an armed man barricaded himself inside.

It all started after a Precinct 1 deputy spotted an armed man acting erratically, walking through traffic on Shepherd. The deputy started going after the man, who ran across a car shop parking lot and jumped a fence.

Police believe after jumping the fence, the man hid out in a vacant home in the 1200 block of Laird Street.

After a couple of hours of trying to make contact with him, they deployed tear gas and sent K-9s into the house.  Nobody was inside.

Police found a pistol outside the house that matched the description of the weapon the man had been holding.  Police believe he may have dropped it while escaping.

No one was injured in the situation and police do not believe the man pointed the gun at anyone.
