Bicyclist dies after struck by hit-and-run driver on Beaumont Highway

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Harris County Sheriff's deputies are searching for the hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist Tuesday night.

According to deputies, Clepatrick Palmer was riding his bicycle around 9: 15 p.m. in the 17000 block of Beaumont Highway in the eastbound outside lane when he was struck by someone driving an older model Suburban. Palmer and his bike were thrown onto the roadway.

Witnesses said the SUV driver stopped, looked at the victim, then fled the scene.

Palmer was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the SUV is likely to have damage on the front end.
