Man shoots ex-girlfriend to death, turns gun on himself

HOUSTON

A man shot and killed his ex-girlfriend and eventually turned the gun on himself in southwest Houston, according to police.

The shooting was reported Wednesday around 7:40 p.m. in the 2800 block of Tidewater.

According to investigators, Brian Allen, 56, came to the home, saw people outside and fired his weapon in their direction, scaring them away.

Allen broke into the home and shot Amanda Arceneaux, 59, his ex-girlfriend, killing her.

Allen rode away on a bicycle to his home about one mile away on Cloverbook and sat in a vehicle in the driveway.

Police approached the house after they identified Allen. When he saw police, he shot himself in the head. He died at the scene.

Investigators said the couple had been separated for several months and Allen was unhappy about the status of their relationship.
