Man shoots roommate during home invasion

HOUSTON – A man is recovering after he was shot by his roommate during a home invasion.

Police are looking for two crooks they said kicked in the front door of an apartment at the Home Wood Apartment Homes near midtown.

It happened Thursday morning at about 5 a.m. Police said the residents were asleep in their rooms when they were awakened by a bang. One of the residents grabbed a shotgun and headed into the living room, police said.  The man’s roommate entered the room at the same time the man opened fire at the intruders, hitting his roommate in the side, according to police.  The would-be robbers then ran.

The victim was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in stable condition.

Police are reviewing security cameras from the hallway of the building in hopes of identifying the intruders.
