Photos released of elderly man accused of robbing La Porte convenience store

LA PORTE – Houston police arrested an elderly man with connections to an armed robbery at a La Porte convenience store.

Bennie Wayne White, 62, was caught on surveillance camera Tuesday night entering the Stripes convenience store on Fairmont Parkway at Canada Road around 8 o'clock. He pointed a gun at the store clerk and took money, according to La Porte police.

Authorities said the man then drove away in what appears to be a black early 2000s model Toyota Tacoma with "headache rack" style rear window guard. He was seen heading west on Fairmont Parkway toward Pasadena.

Thursday night, La Porte identified White and Houston police took arrested him. Officers said White had multiple warrants out from other agencies when he was taken into custody.
