$54 million awarded to family of man killed in Texas A&M construction accident

HOUSTON – The family of a construction worker killed during renovations on Texas A&M's Kyle Field was awarded a large settlement Wednesday for their loss.

The jury awarded the family $54 million.

Angel Garcia of Dallas was part of a demolition crew in December 2013.

Garcia died when a 3,000-pound piece of concrete sent his construction vehicle tumbling four stories.

The family sued four companies for negligence and wrongful death.

Texas A&M was not involved in the lawsuit.
