Man killed in mobile home fire in southeast Houston

Body found inside travel trailer

Houston – One man was killed in a mobile home fire in southeast Houston early Tuesday.

Houston firefighters were dispatched to a fire at the home on the 6000 block of Westover Street just after 2:30 a.m.  A man was found dead inside the trailer.

Friends and family members identify the victim as Lloyd Robinson, 48.

Neighbors were banging on the front door of the residents' home, telling them to get out! When firefighters arrived, they found the mobile home in flames and were told the victim was inside.

"When someone knocks on your door, and says your house is on fire, it's just shocking, it's sad," says family friend, Tonya Cooper.

Friends say they can't believe this happened and they can't believe Robinson, who was staying in the trailer for the night, is gone.

"When I went to tell my son-in-law in the back that his trailer was on fire, he said Lloyd is in there, Lloyd is in there!" Cooper said.

Arson investigators say they're still looking for an exact cause.  Investigators found a space heater inside the trailer connected to an extension cord.

"There was an electrical cord that was connected from the house to the travel trailer so they're doing an investigation right now," Herman Gonzales, deputy chief.
