Two people were killed and one person injured Friday night after their truck slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler that was parked on the side of Interstate 45 in north Houston.
An 18-wheeler with mechanical problems was on the shoulder of the 4100 block of the North Freeway near Crosstimbers when it was hit from behind by a white Chevrolet Silverado truck traveling northbound at a high rate of speed on the shoulder.

The driver and front seat passenger in the Silverado were pronounced dead at the scene. The identities of the two men have not been released.
A back seat passenger was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Police said a preliminary investigation indicated the driver of the Silverado was at fault, but the investigation is ongoing.
