Homeless man looking to be placed in shelter turns out to be wanted felon

Man inquired to deputies about being placed in homeless center

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man wanted for two counts of indecency with a child was arrested after trying to use a fake identity.

Robert B. Jones, 66, was taken into custody by deputies assigned to the Homeless Outreach Team on Monday.

Jones inquired to deputies about being placed in a local center for the homeless.  He identified himself as Samuel Johnson and gave them an identity card.

Jones' true identity was revealed through a thumb print after deputies discovered the name and date of birth on the card were not valid.

Jones is now waiting to appear in court for the charges.
