HOUSTON – A woman is expected to live after a tractor trailer crashed into her car, causing it to burst into flames, resulting in burns over 30 percent of her body.
Investigators said just before midnight Monday, a car was stalled in a moving traffic lane on the East Freeway at Mercury when it was hit by the 18-wheeler. The impact caused the car and the truck to catch fire. The woman driving the car was taken to the hospital by helicopter and is expected to live.
The crash closed several lanes of the freeway for more than four hours as crews worked to investigate and clear debris.
