Baytown police investigating high-dollar jewelry heist


BAYTOWN, Texas – Baytown police officers are looking for three suspects who robbed a Zales Diamond Jewelry store in the San Jacinto Mall.

According to witnesses, the robbery happened just before the mall was about to close Wednesday night.

"Three guys walked into the store," said Lt. Eric Freed with the Baytown Police Department. "One of them had a gun and demanded jewelry from the employee. The employee complied and all three guys left with jewelry, mainly men's rings."

Hundreds of items were stolen, with a value of $50,000 to $70,000.

Nearby store owners reported hearing screams during the robbery. According to witnesses as the three crooks were leaving they left a trail of jewelry behind them.
