Would-be kidnapper holds gun to 8-year-old Webster girl's head
WEBSTER, Texas – The Webster Police Department is investigating the attempted kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl.
Officers said it happened on Nov. 5 at 502 S. Austin St.
The girl told officers a man assaulted her and put a gun to her head.
"The male bent over, grabbed her arm, pointed to her wrist, and placed a gun to her forehead," said Sgt. Mark Rawls, with the Webster police.
Investigators said the man was scared away by an approaching ambulance, and he ran toward a tan minivan. Witnesses told police the man was seen driving erratically from the area.
The girl gave a description of the man to police. She said he is possibly 5 feet 4 inches tall and between 18 and 30 years old. He had a gold hoop earring, a scar on his right cheek, and a tattoo of a skull on the right side of his neck.
"She described him as a big boy," Rawls said.
Police have drawn a composite sketch using the girl's description.
Neighbors said they are keeping a close eye on their children.
"We told them if anybody comes to the playground that you don't know who the are, even if they're with a child, you are to let me know," said Lia Warring, who watches after her three grandsons.
Police have stepped up patrols in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Webster Police Department.
