Court documents state Esparza showed up to his ex-girlfriend's house on Shotwell Street on Nov. 3 to see their son, Zaiden.

Esparza's ex, Brittany Cardenas, told Esparza she could hold their son, but not take him anywhere because he needed to sleep.

Police said the two argued inside Esparza's truck. Then prosecutors said he turned on the ignition and drove off with Zaiden on his lap and Cardenas in the passenger seat.

The two fought for the keys until Esparza stopped the truck. Then prosecutors said he pushed Cardenas out and started the engine again. This time, Cardenas got in the bed of the truck and screamed for help.

She told prosecutors Esparza ran a red light, causing another driver to hit the truck. Esparza kept driving until he stopped in a driveway. Cardenas said she took Zaiden from the truck and that her sister took them to the hospital.

Houston police eventually arrested Esparza. He is now at the Harris County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.
