Man accused of robbing bank in Fort Bend County identified

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A man accused of robbing a Capital One Bank on Saturday in Fort Bend County has been identified.

Investigators said they were notified about an ongoing bank robbery at the Capital One Bank at 11500 Highway 6 at about 10:50 a.m. and they found Rodney Demark Porter, 44, leaving the bank with money in hand. Porter allegedly demanded money and threatened the life of employees and customers during the robbery.

Investigators with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said Porter had attempted three similar bank robberies in First Colony and Houston.

"Detectives credit alert bank employees, communications between citizens and law enforcement, and the quick reaction of deputies for the successful apprehension of the suspect," the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Porter is being held in the Fort Bend County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
