HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man pleaded guilty in the wrong-way crash that killed a woman and seriously injured a Harris County Sheriff's deputy.

Liobardo Reyes, 24, pleaded guilty Thursday morning to intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault on a peace officer. His sentencing is set for September. He faces 10 to 20 years behind bars.

In Oct. 2014, Reyes was driving westbound in the eastbound lane of Clay Road near Highway 6 with his lights off when he collided with a patrol car.

Deputy David Johnson had to be extricated from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. He and Reyes were both airlifted to Memorial Herman Hospital. Reyes' female passenger died at the scene.

On Thursday, Johnson was back at work and still recovering.
