WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – Emergency crews put out a massive storage tank fire Friday in Wharton County.
The fire happened at FM 102 and CR 232 near Egypt.
The dark smoke could be seen as far as 10 miles away, witnesses said.
Fire crews let the flames burn themselves out. According to the Wharton County Office of Emergency Management, the fire burned four tanks owned by XTO Energy.
A tanker truck driver at the scene suffered minor injuries.
It's unclear what caused the fire.
