FBI announces arrest of "Longhorn Bandit" bank robber

HOUSTON – A wanted bank robber known as the "Longhorn Bandit" was arrested Tuesday by the FBI Houston Violent Crimes Task Force.

Officials say Willy Cuevas, 31, was arrested at his home on Bowmore Court in northwest Harris County. He is being charged with five counts of robbery.

Cuevas faces two to 20 years for each count of robbery, according to the FBI.

Investigators said Cuevas targeted five Chase banks throughout 2014.

On Jan. 14, 2014, Cuevas allegedly robbed two locations in the Cypress area on 15380 North Eldridge Parkway and 18018 F.M. 529.

Officials said Cuevas returned to the location on North Edlridge on Nov. 7, 2014.

The FBI said Cuevas also robbed a Houston location on Sept. 17, 2014, at 12350 F.M. 1960 and another on Nov. 5, 2014, at 13101 F.M. 1960.
