Surveillance video, sketch of jewelry store robbery suspect released
HOUSTON – Houston police released surveillance video and a composite sketch of a suspect wanted in the armed robbery of a jewelry store.
On the morning of Jan. 7, an armed suspect entered the Exotic Diamond jewelry store at 5757 Westheimer Road and disarmed an off-duty HPD officer working an approved extra job at the location.
The suspect then started smashing the glass cases and filling his bag with expensive jewelry.
Police said he stole an undetermined amount of high-end jewelry from the store and fled the scene in a 2-door, dark-colored luxury vehicle. No customers were in the store at the time and no one was hurt.
Investigators estimate the robber got away with more than $100,000 dollars worth of jewelry.
The suspect is described only as a black man in his mid 20s to early 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a slim build. He wore a blue hoodie, black jeans and was armed with a pistol. He has a tattoo on the back side of his right hand.
Investigators believe the suspect may be responsible for another jewelry store robbery, also on Westheimer.
Anyone with information on the suspect in this case is urged to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
