Traffic stop turns into police chase

HOUSTON – A routine traffic stop turned into a police chase Monday morning in northeast Houston.

Police said it began at Little York and the North Freeway after they tried to pull over a driver with a busted tail light.

The driver refused to stop. Police said he threw something out the window and then continued to drive down the freeway and north onto Aldine Bender.

As he was going south to the North Loop and then onto Irvington, police said officers deployed spike strips at Cavalcade.

Police said his tires punctured and he was forced to stop. The driver was then taken into custody.
