Man tries to help friend leave accident scene, both charged with DWI

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two alleged drunk drivers were arrested Saturday after a wreck in the 22100 block of Meadow Hill Drive in the Spring area.

Deputies say Leah M. Martinez was driving a 2013 Dodge Dart and collided with three parked vehicles.

A man identified as Kevin Patrick Griffith tried to help Martinez by hooking a strap to his vehicle and the rear of the Dodge Dart to try and leave the scene, witnesses said to the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable's Office.

"It appeared, there was one "impaired driver" trying to get another impaired driver away from the accident scene," Harris County Constables Pct. 4 Asst. Chief Mark Herman said. "We were able to arrest both of them, and the streets of Harris County are a much safer place."

Deputies say that Martinez and Griffith had been drinking at Big Daddy's Sports Bar and were traveling to Martinez's home when the accident happened.

Authorities say Griffith and Martinez were both drunk while operating motor vehicles and were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
